Hey all,

I'm heading to a drive-in in a couple of days, and I'm curious on how to park.

Before my Accent I had a Ford Ranger, and when I'd go to the theater I would throw a foam comforter in the bed of the truck, add some pillows and have a great time.

Now I'm curious if there is room enough (and if it would be fine to lay on the folded up seats) for two adults. I'd throw a memory foam mattress (3 inches thick)on top of the stuff in back, and leave the hatch open. I don't have access to my car, so I can't try it right now. Also does a light stay on when the hatch is open? I haven't noticed yet.

It's all right if things are a bit 'cozy' in the back, I'm just hoping that it will work out instead of having to sit in the front seats.

Thanks!

Man, I haven't been to a drive-in in years... :( Need to get back out there this year! Probably won't be taking my Accent though, my wife's Vibe would be a better choice since it's a hatchback.

Haven't looked at the cargo area on the 3-door Accent, but I'd say you could sit back there easy enough...

when the back seats are folded flat, there is still a "hump" the seat backs stick up about 2-3 inches above the cargo floor... so a filler piece on the cargo floor and then the mem foam... should be ok.. as for the light, i think it stays on, could be wrong, it could go out after 20 minutes or so... like the overhead lights, if you leave your door open, they stay on until a specified time then they go out... not sure though, experiment with it! open the hatch and look at it after 5, 10, 15 minutes, maybe wait 30 even.... have fun at the movies! whatcha seein?

Yea I was hoping that part with the seat would happen near the lower back or by the legs so it would be sortof like a natural laying on your back semi-upright position.

Anyways we're going to see Wall*E followed by The Incredible Hulk. Oddly enough both of us are excited for each movie! I really hope I can somehow disconnect or turn off the hatch light. Even if I can't... it shouldn't use much power... should it? I know the overhead light will turn off, I just hope the little light on the hatch does.

maybe since its alight bulb and not LED, then there has to be a way to change it just in case, so that clear cover has to come off some how... maybe thin blade, flat head screw driver, then just pop the bulb out... if that doesnt work, dark tape, like electrical tape or duct tape..

i'm sure my boyfriend would just want to take the bulb out in general. We haven't been to the Drive-ins since our first date. We should go since they will be closing the only drive in theater in Northern California to turn it into a new mall.. Who needs a new mall anyways with the current slump in retail sales!?

People are still trying to petition it, and I'm all for it.. Where else can you find two movies for $6.75? Tuesday is family night and two movies are $4.75.

a "drive-in" = car + smashed theater walls + best and only seat in the house... at least thats how my dad described it when i was younger. i hear its changed now.

as for the light, i was working on stereo stuff and it was open for the better part of three hours and the light was still on... just take off the cover and remove the bulb. no harm no foul

ok... take your t.v. stick it on a window sill right in front of your drive way, run a speaker out to your car so you can hear it without pissing your neighbors off and go out side with your hunny and watch a movie... while your at throw 20 bucks out the window and make some burnt popcorn and waterd down coke and you got your self a drive-in-way

Man I'm sorry to hear that. They are great fun. We still have one here in Portland and I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread. They are playing 'Get Smart' this weekend. I think I'll try to get my friends together and head down there to see this. Thanks for stirring the ol' memory bank.
