Is this the same Bluetooth kit that's factory installed, or is the factory version different?
When I test drove a Sonata with navigation, it had the button in the steering wheel (the one that symbolizes bluetooth on any other car) that replaces the mute button, but when pressing it, it started voice prompts on the navigation. The vehicle also had this bluetooth setup and I wasn't a big fan of pressing the ceiling to take/end calls...

QUOTE(ddix1026 @ Jun 30 2008, 05:02 PM) ive seen the one Madder posted on that Hyundai Accessory site.. truth is, while it may look "integrated" into the design of the car, it actually removes the use of the sunglass flip down, something i use WAY more often than Bluetooth in my car.. (and it is pricey AND i think you need someone to install it for you)... You are correct and I completely agree with you. I think the kit is very cheap looking as well, especially for $325.

(no navigation before 2009).. this kits is for the 06-08 models... not sure if it would fit the '09's...

That symbol on the steering wheel is a person speaking, not Bluetooth. The official Bluetooth symbol looks completely different. That setup is not at all worth the money. If it doesn't integrate with the audio system, what's the point?

Yep I got the NAV in my 09, b/c I though it had bluetooth built in it, but found out that it didn't :( That button is for the voice activated NAV.....Actually just got off the phone with the dealer wondering if you can get the bluetooth & it is still on backorder!!!! He said he has a few of them ordered, just can't get them yet, but we got it on my wifes, 08 Altima & it is GREAT!!! I want it now & I think the factory one is well worth the money, b/c the aftermarket ones arn't very good at least i don't think so!!

QUOTE would hate to be on the phone with someone on a bluetooth car speaker.. talk about hearing every single annoying road noise... Many BT headsets come with what the maker touts as "noise cancellation." They rarely work as well as those noise cancellation headphones (eg., Bose Quiet Comfort) most people are familiar with; your caller can still hear some traffic noise and they don't cancel traffic noise on your end of the call; that would be illegal. Some BT speakerphones are better at noise cancellation than others; some suppress the traffic noise better than many headsets. The best noise cancelling two-way headsets are the kind helicopter traffic reporters wear. They're tuned to the noise each chopper makes as well as the reporter's voice and cost thousands. IIRC, the pilot wears a similar kind of headset. It's hard as **** to make yourself understood inside a chopper; noisy li'l buggers! QUOTE You can buy the Garmin Nuvi 660 with Bluetooth for $327 at Amazon.com. Sure beats $325 for the Hyundai Bluetooth system that has no Nav functionallity. True, you get a device that does two things. I used the BT on my Garmin once. It's not a 660, but it was a PITA to use. You need a special microphone that clips onto the visor; otherwise the microphone is so far away from the driver that it picks up every little bit of traffic noise. The keyboard is also WAY too far away, at the center of the dash, for convenient dialing. Not that you'd ever dial your cell phone whilst driving! :w00t: Some BT speakerphones can access your cell phone's directory, so you can push the "Call" button and say, "ET Phone Home" and it dials the number for you. My wife trained her speakerphone to respond to commands in Gaelic  This post has been edited by Dennis the Mennis: Jul 2 2008, 08:27 AM

I bought one of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8496and have been using it for a little bit. On the freeway, it gets kind of loud inside my Sonata. The FM broadcast is horrible (the volume has to be turned very high, much more so than when I listen to the radio normally) but the speakerphone is pretty decent. I just leave it in my car all the time (not plugged in all the time), but the battery life seems pretty good. I ran into an issue where the product does not fit snuggly onto the Hyundai mirror, but it's workable after figuring out what I actually needed to do. I think the extra weight moves the rear view mirror, as I have to re-adjust every now and then. Friends say it sounds like any other BT headset. I haven't tried the included BT earpiece. Nobody's broken into my car yet and none of my passengers have mentioned it. So it must fit in relatively well.

Blootoof annoys me to no end.
It is spotty as heck on some devices, and others work great, but invariably the call quality always seems like a let down to me, even with the better Motorola and Nokia headsets. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I'll go back to dialing and redlights and holding the phone.
I can drive better with half a hand on the wheel than most people in my city can with both hands, simply due to the miracle of PAYING ATTENTION :)

I usually don't talk on the phone while I'm driving, even if I do have a headset, because I know for a fact it decreases my awareness. When I drive, I'm totally into it, one with the car, in the zone... lol. I don't like anything to take away from that, even to the point that I'd rather drive alone than have someone in the car with me.
However, I've discovered one thing: most people can't do two things at one time.
Especially talking and thinking... lol, much less talking and driving... or even thinking and driving.
