Well that piece is carbon fiber in mine (to match some other pieces in the interior) which came stock like that so I'm sure you could find a replacement somewhere. Heck if you can find a model in the junkyard you could probably pick it up for pretty cheap. I don't know if they have black though, but the carbon fiber looks nice.

They can order them, but they probably aren't cheap.

The pocket/cubby piece comes as a single part and costs upwards of $100.
Your dealer maybe able to get you a better price, but if you want the carbon look, I would try to find a local wreckers who can get it for you.

If you decide to paint, I would suggest removing it and using spray paint, maybe Krylon for Plastic.
Hand/brush painting it will work, but will probably not do the best job.

Yea I'm sure you could save yourself quite a bit of money if you find a Sonata in a junkyard. You might also be able to get some of the other carbon fiber trim pieces for cheap too.

Find out what it costs to order this panel. This cost will represent your worst-case scenario. If the cost is acceptable, it might make you comfortable painting your own panel (or maybe removing it and having a paint-shop paint it for you for a few bucks). If your paint-job looks good, you get what you like for a very low cost. It if looks bad you order the new one, which is a cost you would have to incur anyway. However if the cost of a new panel is unacceptable, you may not be willing to bear the risk of painting it yourself for fear of screwing it up and having to live with it.

I looked around for just a bit but didn't see one for sale. Looks like the piece is called a "center fascia lower panel" - I bet 'Bean could find out a roundabout price.

Ok, I went out on the lot and found an 06 Sonata with the carbon fiber trim and used the VIN number to the get the exact part number so I could get you a price. To my surprise, it's a lot more expensive than I thought, it's just as expensive as the wood grain trim panel.

Part #84741-3K540-DM
List Price $223.91

You would also have to get the little compartment thing with the flip out door so it would match and not be a beige piece in the middle of the carbon fiber.

Part #84742-3K500-DM
List Price $117.12

So, it's kinda pricey.... not to mention that it wouldn't really match the rest of your interior because the carbon fiber trim is only found in cars with gray interiors. It may stick out too much in a beige interior. There is not a black one available. If you want it black, you'll have to paint it.

If you decide to go the paint route I can highly recommend the Krylon Fusion - it's what I used to paint my engine cover. So far no ... no nothing, it looks just like it did the day I painted it ! Even sitting on top of all that heat.

Grrrr... I forgot about the Limited edition or whatever its called that had the all black interior... I'll have to find a VIN for a car like that to get the P/N, without a VIN it comes up with like 20 different part numbers and I can't tell the differences in them as far as color. Sorry about that... I got tunnel vision on the whole carbon fiber thing. I'll check on it in the morning.

The trim piece that fits the Platinum edition Sonata won't work for his car for one reason: He has the standard rotary type A/C controls, and the Platinum edition comes with the full auto A/C. So yes, it's black, but no, it won't work for his application.

My '08 Sonata GL (CDN Model) came with Black dash and Charcoal and black trimed upholstery. The Body is Bright Silver, so this combination is available. But at what price!!! Who knows.

It was one of the determining factors in my choice as I looked at a low milage '07 and hated the beige or maybe pale grey everything (dash, mats, upholstery, headliner etc). It was worth the few extra bucks and I love the look. Only thing is the car sure heats up when sitting in the sun. But what is air for but to solve that prob' in a few minutes.
