Hi gang,

I have a 1999 Hyundai accent that has a dent in the front quarter panel. I was planning on just getting rid of this car for a new one but due to circumstance I'm going to keep it for a year or two longer.

I'm going to have some fun with this car before I ditch it and first on my list is to fix the dent. I know nothing about body repair and very little about cars but I'm doing this as part of a learning experience. The most I've done with this car so far is take apart the door to fix my drivers side window.

I've checked the online manual for a topic on removing the quarter panel but there was no information. Has anybody attempted this before that could give me a hand on what tools I'd need and the general procedure? If not, is there any links I could follow that can help me out?

Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you are talking about a front fender... you say quarter panel, but the quarter panels are from the panels from the C pillars back and are not removeable without cutting... Front fenders on the other hand are simply bolted on.

I took a peak and saw 3 bolts under the hood, 1 inside the door and what appears to be one under the wheel well. Is there any bolts hiding elsewhere that I'd have to remove?

Would I be able to undo just the top 3 bolts and pry it out a little ways to try and bump out the dent? I have to get my hands on a proper ratchet set before I can continue as the bolts are likely rusted on somewhat if the first bolt was any indication.

I would take the headlight out on that side, there may be one hiding in there too.

I wouldn't try to do any "bumping" if it is only partially unbolted, you may end up warping the panel and it won't fit right when you bolt it back on.
