Hi
I have the elantra 1996 gls 1.8 i had somehow same problem as u
first in the morning the car runs fine but when it gets a bit warmer i notice huge lack of power..i cleaned the fuel injectors..changed fuel filter...still the same....BUT FINALLY the problem is solved by replacing my fuel pump with a new one from the dealer...the car now runs very fine now...and very powerful

i hope by you meaning the engine dies u mean u loose power and not just the engine shuts off.
