Went to my local Shell station the other day and while filling up there were two guys at a table with a new(?) product, which my Shell guy recommended also.

It's a spray can, named FW1, which is both a cleaner and a wax that's great removing tar and bugs grime. My car's front (white paint, oy!) was hit by about a thousand bugs driving down south to Champaign, and that stuff did a great job, indeed. It works much like wax, but much easier to apply (spray) and rub off.

I found their site at http://www.fw1shine.com/store/

Anybody else heared/tried this product?

I use Turtle Wax bug & Tar remover which "leaves a deep Wax shine". Works

pretty good. I love all those products at your site mama, but I see 3 Microfiber

Towels for $49.95, and they are $4.95 at the Family Dollar Store. Makes me

wonder about the prices on these products. How have you been. Thought you had

one Hackneys Burger too many? :P :57:

I paid a total of $35 (+ tax) for 3 (17.5 oz.) cans and a large Microfiber towel.
2 cans were $25, the 3rd they gave me free, and the towel was $10.-

I've been using wax for decades, but this seems so much easier, 'cause it's thinner, more liquidy and easier to wipe. It also works well on glass. The guy said one can would be enough for 1.5 to 2 cars, pointing at his car which was a Focus...

But, not knowing enough about this product, and based on its price, I wouldn't use it for my periodical wax job. It's more for a quick cleaning of the bad, paint damaging ugly stuff like tree sap, tar and bugs.

Again, I don't know how well it protects the paint and especially, for how long, compared to the old fashioned wax....

Its so hard to tell. I bought some Meguiars Scratch X, a name brand product and it hardly worked. Yet I bought some amazing Blue Star Ointment X-OU812 (not the real name) and the stuff was amazing!

I've used ScratchX a ton and it works great. You have to keep working it in until it completely disappears.

I use the turtle wax spray aswell, before I used to use the non-spraying turtle wax both are really good :) Dont know if its the bug and tar remover one though? Meguires is good aswell but too pricey.

Towels for $49.95!! Those must be special edition :whistling:

When I was President of the Convertible Club I had a guy come in and demo this type of "waterless" wash at one of our meetings. I just can't see rubbing the dirt off my car with something I spray on. Just doesn't sound right. If I'm going to wash it I'll "drag" out the hose.

No matter what magical cleaner you use, sand, grit, and dirt should be rinsed off before you do any rubbing. If you rub them in, I guarantee they will cause micro scratches in your paint.

Best way is to blast the gross dirt with a hose, then pour soapy water all over the car, then rinse again. Now its time to apply soap or magic elixir, and wash the car with a sponge or microfiber.

Hey young man....don't put words in my mouth. I just stated it's not for me.

For some it's the cats meow. For others it's not.

:rant2:

Can I use it now?

Actually, I'm driving across the prairies to visit the outlaws this week, so I'll be using it daily, for a week. Should be fun. Spend $1000 on gas just to go to mosquito land. Joy. :rant2: :rant2: :rant2: :rant2: :rant2:

OK, maybe I was a bit too hasty purchasing it? I know regular wax is also a cleaner for those kinds of stains, I know. But this product is a lot easier to apply and rub off.

...Also, price wise, since I haven't purchased wax lately, I don't know the price of wax.... Calculating $8.35 per spray can (I got 3 for $25), well, how do you compare it to a can of Wax, since we can't compare the amounts and for how many square feet can each last.....

Though Bobad's note is logical, since applying the spray and rubbing it off does not need the "force" like applying regular wax, I guess it will not scratch the paint... As long as the car is not really really filthy....

I see this product more as more for emergency, when you find tough stains on your car and don't have the opportunity to was her.

You know mama I agree with you. Emergency use only. My neighbor gave me a bottle of Armor-All spray wax. I haven't used it yet but it's nice to have around for those times when wax just doesn't warrant the time.

Nice to have a backup.....kinda like women. Did I type that out loud? :rant2:

YOU have family down here? I KNEW there was hope for you. :rant2:

BTW...once you are down HERE....YOU can save some loonies on fuel. :rant2: Do they tax you on fuel in your tank? They should. Border patrol will know when you go back. :whistling:

I'll make sure I alert Homeland Security so they raise the price of petrol as you drive :3gears: around our GREAT nation.

May I say there are certain Professional Detailers who will Clay, Wax, and Polish

your Sonata (first time the word Sonata appears in this thread) using an almost

Waterless approach to Car cleaning. The guy who restored my Sonata parked my

Car on a water mat (looked like a slip & slide! ) and mentioned very

little water is used in this process. Let me tell you, he did an incredible job!

Please educate me: What's all this WATERLESS thing? The FW1 makers also boasting about it, which I don't get.
