Actually, this lucky devil has the day off! :bwekk: Sorry, I had to rub it in.
Thanks all of you for the kind words. I just got done washing the Genesis and putting a coat of Megiuars NXT Tech Wax 2.0 on. I'm planning on taking some better pics later today while I'm out picking up an iPod cable....hopefully I can find one that works on the Genesis. I can't tell how you much I am enjoying this car. The paint finish is amazing. I'm REALLY picky and I found only two very minor flaws on the whole car. There appears to be a small fiber/hair in the paint near the driver side C-Pillar (it's only visible if you are like 2-3" away) and there is some piece of debris under the paint on one of the wheels. Maybe a small piece of dirt. Either way, the paint finish easily beats ANY car I've ever owned, and that includes my Lexus & BMW. It has such depth and gloss with virtually no orangepeel.
Anyway, have a great Monday everyone! I'm out to go take a spin in the Genesis.

Actually the car looks a LOT better than the spies photos let on.
Congratulations.

Blast!!! No Genesis for Raleigh until ***AUGUST***.

I guess a "near-luxury" luxury car with a strong value-conscious target demographic just doesn't make sense to release here... I guess that kind of buyer doesn't exist in this provincial little ville. Why, we even had a ticker-tape parade in downtown the first time someone ever brought a S-class inside city limits... late last year... that is, after we convinced the old folk that it wasn't a German space ship. Oh well. Looks like Genesis test drive will be in 2 months for me. :( </Eeyore doldrums>

If I weren't a Hyundai fan I would think it was a higher end car. Now that I see your photos I can't wait until we get them in at work.

Oh yea, I hate you :bwekk:

Wow, that really sucks! It's frustrating knowing a car that you're excited to see/drive is available in some parts of the country and not in others. Does anyone know the actual number of Genesis that Hyundai has shipped to the U.S. thus far?

On a side note, I find it funny that Hyundai is giving all the automotive press fully-loaded V8 models with Tech and they won't be available at all for at least 6-8 weeks. It's understandable that they want to show off the V8 and new Nav system though. Still, I can't wait to see more reviews dedicated to the V6, especially since it will account for the majority of Genesis sales.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. I have some pics of the interior all lit up...anyone want to see them? (I don't want to be a pic whore).

I got a couple double-takes and stares. No thumbs up or comments yet. I'm sure I'll get some feedback at work tomorrow. Keep in mind though that I haven't driven it very much. My insurance company is closed over the weekend and I wasn't insured yet, so I was apprehensive to drive it anymore than necessary until today.

Yeah, jeez, post pics. Pictures of your car are like a few ounces of water for a thirsty man in a desert. If you also happen to have cool dramatic shots of the outside include 'em. Like this feeble attempt:

Attached Image

Man it's killing me! No Genesis for my podunk town for better part of two months! Feel free to gloat. Post pictures... big ones... post detail shots... paint job... wheels... neat features... go crazy in the engine bay! It'll be much appreciated, I assure you.

LOL! Maybe I should hire you to photograph my Genesis. I love that shot of your Jag!

Anyway, here are some interior night time shots:

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/jwaters943/035.jpg)

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/jwaters943/055.jpg)

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/jwaters943/038.jpg)

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/jwaters943/034.jpg)

And I decided to go ahead and order a set of the KDM Wing Genesis Logos at http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/pro...products_id=921

In anticipation of getting the new badges I thought, why not debadge the rear now? Well, as I feared, the badge has prongs as well as adhesive so I now have two holes in my trunk lid. I've covered them up with some sticky rubber tabs I had lying around until the new badges get here. (Note to self: learn to be more patient)

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/jwaters943/065.jpg)

(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v221/jwaters943/067.jpg)

Ahhh, I just love being the Gineau pig. If I decide to upgrade to the 4-piston brakes from the V8 I'll be sure to fill you all in on how that goes. I have concerns if they will clear the spokes or not. They theoretically should since they're both 18" wheels, but the wheel designs are different.

Can you post some pictures of engine compartment?

I heard that the battery is located in the trunk.

You did the right thing ordering the winged badges Hyundai should have put on Genesis for the US in the first place. Are you going to punch holes on the hood too?

If the wing logo has tabs I'll just file them down. If I prep the surface with alcohol the double stick tape should be enough to hold in on. I can't stand the thought of putting holes in my baby. :)

Keep the pics coming, they look great! You are getting pretty good gas mileage for only have 168 miles. What does the sticker say for the epa rating?

I like how you can go thru the trip computer options with the button on the steering wheel.

The sticker says 18/26. My mileage has now dropped below 22mpg according to the computer. I guess it's my "spirited" driving. I'll keep you all posted on the fuel economy once the miles rack up. In my experience engines typically attain their best fuel economy after the first or second oil change.

I will be sure to post more pics in a week or two once I get the windows tinted and put on the Genesis wing emblems.

I've been called worse! It sure was fun trying to explain to my co-workers though. I got quite a few comments today at work on the Genesis. Most seemed to be shocked that it was a Hyundai. Another said he's seen these cars around town quite a bit (not sure what he was talking about, I just nodded politely and said "is that so?").
