Just thought I'd post this to let you guys know...

We got a bulletin today about the base model radios in the Genesis. The bulletin states that some of the base model radio amplifiers are having problems. When the cars first arrive at the dealerships, we are being instructed to "stress" the amplifier as part of the pre-delivery inspection process by turning the bass all the way up, then turning the volume all the way up. The amplifiers with problems will cut out or cut completely off. We are being told NOT to sell these cars until the amplifiers can be replaced. At this time, Hyundai states that they are "acquiring" replacement amplifiers... I guess meaning they don't have any in Hyundai parts warehouse stock right now.

Hyundai is really going all out to make sure the launch of the Genesis is nothing short of spectacular. We have already received special instructions on how to order Genesis parts. All parts ordered for Genesis customer cars that are Genesis-specific parts should be ordered via emergency order (overnight). They are really attempting to take the whole "Genesis experience" a step higher than anything in the past. We even have a partial accessories list for the Genesis, and we don't even have the car in our dealership yet.

Anyway, just wanted to post some info about that bulletin so if any of you hear about this, you'll know kind of what's going on. So far we have no ETA on the replacement amplifiers, but I'm sure Hyundai is getting them shipped in as quickly as possible. The Genesis launch is one of the most important events in Hyundai's history and they are striving to make it nothing short of spectacular.

Good feedback... thanks for letting us know. It's good to hear about th priority they put on the experience. Hopefully they'll carry that sense of priority through all aspects of Genesis's sales, service and support.

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 4.6 here :)

Just to clarify, this effects the base 14-speaker Lexicon audio system and not the 7-speaker non-branded audio system. Correct, LilBean?

Thank you jwaters for bringing this up in this thread... and yes, you are correct. Hyundai had the wording in the initial parts bulletin as this affecting Genesis models with the "base" audio system. However, after doing this Campaign on the lone Genesis we have received, which has the 14 speaker Lexicon system, then apparently it does affect the base Lexicon system, not the lowest level audio system.

On a side note, we did this replacement on our Genesis today, and the Campaign instructions state to "stress" the new amplifier for two minutes at maximum bass and maximum volume. I conveniently had a Disturbed CD in my car, and we used that to test it. I have to say... this audio system is one of the absolute best I've ever heard. There is absolutely no way we could tolerate sitting in the car with it turned up to maximum volume, but there was not a single bit of distortion in the system at all. Even when we got out and turned the volume to max, there was still no distortion. It's incredible.

Agreed on the audio system. If the 14-speaker is this good, the 17-speaker must be unbelievable. The cabin of the Genesis is so drum tight and quiet that I have yet to see the need to turn up the volume past 10. At that volume every nuance is clearly audible and quite loud. My normal listening volume is 6 or 7.

We got it up to 34 sitting in the car with both front doors open. Couldn't handle it, had to turn it down... my ears are still numb... lol. It's rediculous how clear it was at that volume.
