QUOTE(TroyHansen @ Jun 26 2008, 11:48 PM) first gear would result in massive traction issues but second and third would pull fine with a turbo... but without a turbo i think its a perfect match it makes the car feel faster and gives you an adrenaline rush unlike the slushbox automatic. just my personal opinion no hate to you auto guys :innocent: I agree that the 5-speed is a good match for the car in N/A form. It makes it peppy around town. The problem is that boost isn't just based on RPMs, it is based on air flow through the engine. This means that boost and RPMs are not directly related. The engine load determines how much air is flowing through the engine. As a general rule, lower gearing = lower engine load = lower boost. This of course doesn't take into account how well the turbo is sized for the engine. But with the 5-speed... you'd need a pretty tiny turbo to make the system not lag. I'm not saying the turbo wouldn't make a 5-speed car faster or anything. I just think you'd get better bang for your buck with a turbo on an automatic Accent. I love this devil's advocate thing :whistling:
