When you start the car, is the RPMs supposed to go up to "2"? It comes back down to 1 after a few seconds.

Yes, it is completely normal for the 2.7L engine to go 2K and then down to 1K at iddle, don't know about other engines though.

If in a hurry, drive the car always keeping it under 2K rpm until engine is up to normal operation temperature.

all cars do this to get the engine warmed up when its started, you'll notice that if you've been running the car for a while, shut it off and then start it back up again in a few minutes to doesnt rev as high, since the engine is warmed up already.
