Well I cross referanced the plug and looks like it's the NGK Part#BKR6E-11 or amsoil Part#NGK2756 for our cars. Surprized me because I figured it would have been the as the pre MC engine, but I was wrong.

I just installed a set of LSG-BRISK plugs to replace the OEM Champions. So far so good. Time will tell though.

Dealer just sold me NGK BKR5EY-11. I know the codes all match except the 'Y'. Anyone know the difference between the 'S'and the 'Y'.

According to the NGK part code guide:

S = Standard 2.5mm Centre Electrode
Y = V-Grooved Center Electrode (14 mm only) 2.5 mm Insulator

Don't waste your money on "trick" plugs - stick with stock: NGK BKR5EY-11 or Champion RC10YC. Remember, there is only as much spark as the coil creates. Stick with copper plugs, change them every two years, and you'll achieve maximum performance.

the coil part i can beleive but... copper wont give you the best spark. things that are solid or coated in platnium will more efficently( sp) distribute the current into a more powerul and explosive spark. just cuse your coil gives off 20000 volts doesnt mean that your plugs are making good use of it

Where are you guys getting your NGK plugs?

I've tried Advanced Auto, Checker, and Autozone...none of them can get the NGK plugs.
What's up with that?

Also, how do you change out the plugs with those coil thingies on top of them?

Very strange, roadranger... I went into Advance and bought the plugs there! That was a year ago though, things change I guess... :puzzled:

All you have to do is remove the bolt out of the coil and it pulls right off the plug. They you'll need a really long extension on your socket to get down to the plug.

i had the brisks, big waste of money no improvment and horrible miss after 20,000 kms
went back to ngks.
this was in my old 99 accent.
stick with copper, copper carries the best volatge compared to platniums.
plats only have a longer life span at a cost though of less voltage.
look it up pn the net, copper vs plat

Pure Copper is a better conductor of electricity than pure platinum by a factor of about 5, but Platinum can tolerate about twice as much heat as Copper, before it melts, and Iridium has an even higher melting point than Platinum.

So...what is more important in sparkplug tip design...thermal conductivity?...or stability in a high-temp environment?
