The XG350 has what looks like a rear tow hook connected to the gas tank?
Does anyone know the purpose for this? I want to tow a small car for a couple miles and was wondering if I could just hook a tow rope to that hook on the rear. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

that hook is in fact welded to the underside of the spare wheel carrier, it is o/k to use this for light towing purposes

I want to pull an Elantra about 5 miles. So there is no risk in yanking the spare wheel carrier off the XG :o

I ended up not using my XG to tow the Elantra. I used a friend's pickup. Let me just say that towing with a Tow Strap is not easy. The front driver must be very smooth and I mean very smooth, like just idling until the rope gets taunt, and breaking very slowly at stops. If its not smooth, there will be a bit of jerking, which creates a lot of stress. Also, because the Elantra wouldn't start, you have no power steering or power brakes, its all manual. I had to practically stand on the breaks to stop the Elantra, and if the front driver made a quick stop, I'm sure I would have kissed his bumper. But we made it.
