I go 5,000 miles between oil changes and do them myself. Always the same; 10W30 Texaco Havoline fully synthetic oil and a Hyundai oil filter ($5 can't be beat).

So let's do the calculations

Your Oil changes
5,000 miles
Oil say $5 per quart
Filter $5

AMSOIL Oil change
35,000 miles
Oil about $10
Filter about $16

So with that in AMSOIL you'll pay about $10 x 5 quarts + $16 x 2 (Change filter at 25,000 miles = $82
With yours $5 x 5 quarts + $5 = $30 Now x 7 for amount of oil changes that's $210

So you pay $210 for your oil changes I pay $82, that is a $128 savings. good enough for at least 2 maybe 3 fill-ups at the pump.

Remember we didn't add in the cost of the oil cange since you might do it yourself, but if you don't just add it to your total and times it by 7.

Don't overlook the fact that lovemysantafe is using Havoline - the best oil on the market, bar none!

Hi,

I, as well, just purchased my first Hyundai, a dark red Santa Fe Limited. I have about 600 miles on it but I will do what I have always done when purchasing a new vehicle and that is changing the oil after the first 1000 miles regardless.

I've had my oil changed three times at 3,000 miles per at my local Hyundai dealership.
They charge a fair price and I have a dealer record of my service.

I believe they use Castrol Synth blend or something......

I also use Lucas Oil Fuel System cleaner, about every 5,000 miles.

With AMSOIl you don't need any oil additives, in fact those do more damage than good. It's been proven ask any of teh oil manufactures they'll actually tell you not to add any additive to thier synthetic oils. As for changing your oil at 1000 miles, you can do that, **** you can change yoru oil at 1 mile. Just make sure to follow the break in driving recommendations.
