I'm 32, thinking of getting the 09 Sonata. I'm at the beach, jogging, car watching, "What would I look good in? Or, want to be in?" Then, I see the 09 Sonata coming towards me ... "looking good", "looking good", and then BAM! two senior citizens sitting in the front. That sort of bummed be out. I thought or wanted to believe that the car's pretty cool, even with its bland exterior, and that took it down a couple notches.

So, how old are the people on here that are driving the 09 Sonata?

Though I don't drive a Sonata, my 04 Elantra is the same way. I've seen many an old person driving the same car. You just have to make it look younger, lol. I'm 30 by the way.

Hmmm.... I'm.... Let's see, I'll be 87 in November. Is that making the average more balanced with your 18, David? Quick, get the calculator!

I'm also 30 and in the market for a new car. The 2009 Sonata is at the top of my list. Funny thing is, I started researching them as an afterthought.

I agree the exterior is not as exciting as the Altima, Camry, or Accord, but it's still a good looking car and absolutely the best value in its class.

You are 32 and care what people think? Wow!

I had completely given up on that concept well before 32...try it...it makes life immensely easier.

Man, if I really cared what people think, I wouldn't even be considering the Hyundai. Mercedes, Acura, Audi, Infiniti, Honda, Toyota, Nissan ... of my family and friends nobody drives a Hyundai.

Like every other poster on this thread so far, I don't have an 09 (yet!). But, I'm 28 and don't feel ashamed of my car at all. I don't see the Sonata as an "old person's car" or anything like that. While there are a number of senior citizens driving Sonata's, it's because they're mature enough to make smart choices with their cars.

As Bdiggy mentioned, you can always make the car "look younger." I don't feel like my Sonata looked "seasoned" but I did think it needed a little sprucing up. Here's a before and after for ya. The first one is from the day I bought Mep. The second one is what she currently looks like.

kyhwa777, I really dig the SS. I actually wish they had a similar color available on the new Sonata's, but alas, they don't. Although that may be a good thing - if they offered it now, I'd probably be trading up sooner and going into debt up to my eyeballs!

What difference does it matter what you look good in as long as you like your car?

I was 19 when I got my 07 Sonata and I am now 20 (21 in 5 months) and have an 08 Santa Fe.

Here are a couple pics of my Sonata

Hi hyundaiorbust,

Don't worry about how you'll look in the car. If you feel good in it, you'll look good in it.

Around where I live, I see a lot of senior Sonata drivers - I think I look better in the car than they do. LOL!

Hey MsSonata, haven't seen you posting much lately. Good to see you again!

56.5 and I haven't cared much what others think in several decades.
