another issues of my new 08 Accent sport is when i drive over 100km/h, the steering wheel shakes. Is that mean wheel balance need to be done?
I just got this car not even a day, and i discovered so many issues already, it is scary.

you test drove it first i presume? i would say take it back and have dealer or service shop manager drive it with you riding along... sounds like alignment issue, or like you said, wheel balance... does it shake alot or just a little bit?

Definitley sounds like a balance issue. Also, I would check to make sure that the lugs are all tight. They should be, but you never know...... A friend of mine had bought a Jeep Liberty and had a vibration issue....pulled out the tire wrench and all the lugs on the right front were loose.....

I drove the demo one, but not that one I got yesterday. The steering vibrate and shake not very serious but very annoying.
Am I going to be charged $ if I bring it back to the dearer for repair? i hope not.

Just sounds like the wheels need balenced is all, What other problems are you experiencing? Don't be alarmed by being charged by the dealer, that won't happen! The car is brand new after all................sigh...............

Did they not let you drive the one you wanted before buying it? If not, shame on them. Demos are OK to get a feel of what the car is going to be like but if you're going to put down your hard earned cash, best to take the car out for as long as you possibly can.

Anyway, doesn't sound too bad, probably just a rebalance. Or if that doesn't work could be just a bad tire. One other thing, you don't have those expensive dealer-installed wheels do you? Someone here had problems with those bumping, went away when the OEM wheels were put back on.

Whatever it is, if you didn't cause the problem the dealer should have no problems warrantying it.

hello! i registered for these forums just to tell you that i had the EXACT same problem (except i'm in the US, and it was 60mph, which is about 100km/hr) I had the balance checked and every tire, according to the shop, was WAY out of balance, kind of strange considering i bought the car 2 days ago....it runs perfectly now that they are re-balanced, but wow.... never bought a car new that had a problem like that, oh well, no problems now, and it didn't cost me anything (the dealer will cover it, or at least did for me)

that being said, These are sweet little cars...

welcome!

it sucks that your dealer did not check your car before you take it. check everything, tire pressure, let them re-align it and balance the tires. you may also want to check your oil level :S

When i put $1000 deposit and signed the paper, then i realized they didnt have the car instock. I had to wait a month to get it.
I finially got it on 2 days ago and found out the wheel balance and wheel alignment problems. The vehicle can't drive straight and the steering wheel shakes.

As stated above either a balancing problem,or since it was just delivered maybe a flat spot on the tire from being chained down too hard for too long.If balancing ,there is no charge,if flat spot the tires are full warranteed for 12000 milesfor free replacement for such.
Also all the dealers I know of give a 3 day/300 mile exchange/return guarantee.
These are great little cars ,,don't get excited or rant at the dealership ,they can be great ,mine has been. :00000732:

Even though you had to wait a month for your car, the dealership still should have done a PDI (pre-delivery inspection) that is intended to catch ANY problems before the vehicle goes on the lot for sale. PDIs are supposed to be performed on EVERY single new vehicle that come in. BTW, the tires are always OVER-inflated so as to prevent flat spots while being shipped from Korea.

However, the dealer will take car of this for you at no charge. This car is brand new, it should drive as smooth as butter. Mine does. :-) Take it in, be nice, and give them a chance to make things right.

as i stated before, i had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM, get the wheels re-balanced and there should be no problem, no guarantee, but i would bet money on it. (maybe the wheel balance guy takes breaks as the tires/wheels are still rolling past him....lol)

the problem i had was on the test drive i only got up to about 55mph (the shake only happened at 60mph and higher), so i didn't catch it myself, and the dealer didn't either, no harm done, and now my vehicle drives smooth as butter , my experience with my dealer so far has been very positive, especially compared to other car dealerships around here who think they have everyone under their thumb when it comes to buying a high fuel mileage vehicle.

if i was you i woul be raising h-e double hockey sticks.

if you signed for the car then had to wait a month cuse they didnt tell you the car was in stock you should have asked for a price drop or asked for some freebies.

i would take the car back and tell them to give you a brand new one or get them to fix it with a year of oil changes or something.

what ever you do dont kiss ****. its their fault they should be held responsible

Call them and get them to re-balance the tires for FREE.

Also, being burned on my last new car purchase I put almost 100 miles on my Accent before I bought it, ranging from city streets to highway before I even considered signing any papers.

NEVER BUY A CAR YOU DIDN'T TEST DRIVE!!!!
