Hey everyone how are ya? I'm the newest newbie I think. I bought an '08 Accent SE a couple months ago and I'm super happy with it! It's an amazing car and very under-rated I think.

Anyways, I have been wanting to change the interior lights (dome lights, dash lights etc.) to blue, or blue Leds. How would I go about this as I am a novice the scene. Can I even :57: switch the dash lighting from green to blue? And if so, How do I remove the panel to get to the bulbs?

I apologize if this has been answered before, I was looking around but didn't see anything. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it.

for this mod you will need some smd leds, check on this website LED. the one we have on our car is only 30 light intensity, i don't if someone have try diff intensity.
plus you can see this one led it didn't start as led....but later it does talk about it....good luck with your project

Yah you can switch all the interior lights over to any colour you wish. But before you do this. You need to know a few things.

1. You must have a steady hand and be ready to solder.
2. Yes solder you need to solder all the bulbs, so if your not ok with this don't do it.
3. It'll take about 40 bulbs to complete.
4. If your scared to take apart your dash, don't do this, you'll be taking it apart right down to the circuit board.

It's not as scary as it sounds but if at anytime you feel over welmed back away and put it back together. You can get a lot of informationof taking things apart at hmaservice.com.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I'll keep it in mind. I don't have a lot of time to mess around with it right now, but maybe in the future. Maybe I'll just change out the dome lights for now.

I have seen people on another forum I frequent for a different car (who have clusters with white LED's that have characters light up white) place colored transparent film to the back of the cluster face. So, when light hits it, viola - different color. They say you can obtain this stuff at sign shops.

Problem is, you can't do much color-wise since the light back there is already green from the LED's. Can't do much to cancel out the green. A color like red would be out of the question, it would end up looking like it does on the tach for the redline at night. I wonder if you may be able to get away with a teal or blue type color? Would be greenish-blue at best?

I dunno if that would even work but it's faster than soldering in LED's. :P

You could solder in white LED's and use the colored film to make all sorts of neat colors though for anything you wanted.

Purple is created by using two LED colors, or painting the LEDs

White LED's as your base lighting and purple transparent film applied to the rear of the cluster face should work fine... And in the future if you choose to mix the colors up a bit, just put on different film instead of going through all that effort of changing the LED's out.

They do make UV blacklight LED's which appear purple ,but I haven't ever looked for surface mount ones.

2 leds or painting them...nah...
Ill just stick to white and then a purple film.

Hmmm UV blacklights...
Yeah true I havent really seen "purple" out there.

So about the surface mounts...

30 intensity is the best to use...or the only one to use?
Will a higher intensity hurt?

well our board have been create it with 30 intensity smd...since the resistor we have i believe thats what it holds..i really don't suggest trying higher intensity..if you think of doing this mod...please dont forget the polarity of them...one of the corners have a dent..that will be you positive if you forgot how it was place on ur board.

Well if I were to change theses LEDs I would use a lower intensity because they are so bright ! I wish I had a control for the level of brightness lol

white would be cool.

changing the OEM stereo LEDs should be the about the same work right?
