Hi all,

Have just got a new 2008 Santa Fe SX 2.2ltr turbo diesel and would like to add a few extras. One of which is a set of foot well lights for the driver and passenger sides that will illuminate when the main interior light is on.

Has anyone added such lights? Where did you get them? Was the installation easy/hard?

Thanks in advance.

I installed underbody LED puddle lamps under each side of the body about a year ago and about 7 months later, installed blue LED foot well lights. The Puddles and Footwells are tied together.

I found the necessary wires under the left windshield pillar. If you want your lights to go off with the interior lights when the doors are closed and come on when you hit the unlock button on your remote, this is the area to look.

It was not easy locating the correct wires. I had to do a lot of probing with a test light. Unfortunately, I don't remember the color coding of those wires.

You just have to search for the ground and hot wire that reacts to the closing of the door. If I remember correctly, I spent an hour or so patiently searching.

It can be done and is definitely a worthwhile project.

I have 6 white LED puddle lamps under each side of the body and in each foot well, I have a unit that holds four blue LED bulbs. The affect is striking.

I can't post a picture due to my camera not being sophistacted enough to do night shots.

My wife's camera may be able to do it, in which case I will try to post pics in the near future.

Anyway, be patient. It can be done and you will love the finished project.
