Would like to know if there is a way to disable the park requirement on dvd video playback? Right now the Navi DVD video player will play movies - but only when the 2009 Sonata is in PARK. Is there a way around the safety feature that would allow it to work while the car is in drive?

there is a switch at base of hand brake which is activated when handbrake is on... it trips the dash light to tell you that hand break is on this is where the wire for dvd player is hokked up to......... remove wire and earth to body....... whalla

generally these are just eath wires to activate but occasionally they are positive powered wires so if earthing out wire doesnt work,,,, run positive wire to it.......

it's dangerous trying to watch tv and drive at same time......

A negative side effect of doing that, though, is that it may disable your ESC and traction control, and it also may not allow your cruise to work. That switch does more than just turn on the light, it tells the system if the parking brake is on or off.

What kind of tv do you have? Some have a passcode like the jensons once put in it bypass the dvd block. Option 2 like with my pioneer There is a toggle swith that I installed as do many professnal places that with the swith of the switch boom ur on. :57:

I have also been wanting to get this done, but have had no success yet :( I was told it could be done, but no one has had anything up. I know it is dangerous, but I was basically just wanting it to work so I could say it would work, so I really didn't want to spend $200-$300 to have the audio place in town do it, b/c I will probably never use it!

Is this something you were told, or you have done or verified it works? I want to buy a sonata, but will only get the nav unit with it if i can bypass it.
