Hey I was wondering what the main difference between the 09 Sonata's 247hp and my 07 235 hp. Is it basically the ecu? tuned for more performance? if it is would it be possible to buy an 09 ecu and jam it into my 07? Just curious not sure if this brought up already.

no no
they changed the entire exhaust setup to VVT as well.
06-08 sonatas only have VVT for the intake only.
09 has VVT for both intake and exhaust systems.
hence, you won't get any HP gain.
you will get a lot of problems since wiring and some systems are different.

The intake also changed, which supposedly accounts for part of the power gain.

I wouldn't even chance plugging an 09 ECU into an earlier car without checking out the pin functions of each ECU.
Since no one seems to have cracked the ECU or spent much time lookin at them, that information is still fairly hard to find.
