my sister just bought an 08 Charger with the 2.7 V6 RWD for 20grand the car rides nice (almost a little bit better than my sonata but im still quicker lol)

both cars have a nice ride but like you said it like a comparo of apples to oranges the sonata looks more classy (almost for middle aged people) the charger on teh other hand looks more mean and sporty. but thats just my .02 cents

I would NEVER buy a HYUNDAI - NEW.  I bought my 2007 Limited used.  Have you looked at the resale value of your Sonata?

Your argument doesn't hold much weight here.

Overall, buy a used Sonata and your getting a lot more car for your dollar.  I'll post reliability in 2 years.

Our Sonatas loose about $8K-10K, in the first year and continue to fall half that amount the following years (depending on model and miles)

I think you missed my point. Blue07 was praising the RT V8 charger but the "problem" as he said was that it's more expensive than the Sonata.....which it is...NEW. However if you truly desired one, a low mile used one can be had for low 20s like I said....or less I've seen. If you're only buying a USED Hyundai than chances are your budget is considerably less than $20K. And yes, in that case you can get a used low mi Sonata cheaper then a comparable used V8 Charger. However, Blue07 didn't specify that he only buys used.

My best Friend Bought a Dodge Avenger which when we compared them side by side was very similiar in shape and even the engine output both 235. I drove it a little bit and it made me so happy I bought a Sonata. Even my friend admitted that my seats were way more comfortable. His stereo was better and that was about it. The Sonata was lighter and even felt faster than his car. Although we never lined them up and raced. Seats felt way too tight and the sonata just felt roomier.

I disagree with many of the above posters - it isn't apples to oranges at all - the Sonata and Charger are both family sedans with decent size and decent power. I looked at the Charger when I was in the market but it didn't get good enough mileage for my liking.

Yeah but that's an Avenger. Go drive a 340hp Charger RT. If we're talking strictly power, that car has a lot of it. It will blow away a V6 Sonata in that dept despite its heavier weight. And it's a RWD V8 so the power delivery feels different compared to FWD car like the Sonata. I think the Sonata is a better all around car for sure. But if more power and RWD is what you want....that's what a Charger will provide along with worse gas mpg among other things.

you see the Charger as a family sedan in the ilk of the Sonata? really? wow

to me, Sonata = Family Sedan and Charger = Muscle Car Wannabe (unless you get the SRT)

Agreed....except the RT is still pretty powerful with 340hp. The Charger V6 can be comparable to a Sonata.
