Wish I'd known about this site a few months ago. I had a check engine light go on in my 2001 Elantra GT, took it to the dealer, and they replaced an O2 sensor. A month or so later, I got another check engine light; took it in, they replaced the other O2 sensor. Exhaust had also gotten loud, and I noticed my mileage (especially for city driving) seemed to be terrible.
Recently I took it to my hometown repair shop (where I actually trust the guys) and he told me it was a bad flex pipe. But he told me I should bring it back to the dealer, since it might involve replacing the CC and be covered under emissions warranty.
Sounds like the dealer took me for a ride on the O2 sensors when its been the flex pipe all along. My question is, does replacing the flex pipe require doing anything to the CC as well (would that possibly be covered by warranty), or should I just bring it back to my own mechanic to get it done better and cheaper?
Thanks, Greg
