I am actually experiencing this creaking sound you mention on the driver side lower left part of the windshield. It sounds like it's coming from behind the dash or left pillar. When I am stopped and take-off or slow down to a stop (including driving on bumpy roads), the creaking or knocking sound would become really annoying. It sounds like when the body shifts, it produces a "tock" type of sound.
It really doesn't sound like a creaking sound from the dash. It actually sounds like it's coming from the left hood hinge area.
Has someone experienced this noise? I will approach the dealer and suggest the front strut.. I really don't want to pay taking apart a dash when in fact it can be something a lot easier. The mechanic told me that it could be the left pillar missing a weld spot causing it to make that noise.
So far, no definitive answer as to what it could be. I will be going back to the dealer to have them check this again. They have played around with my suspension before the summer (to fix an alignment problem) with the vehicle. I am just wondering if this could have caused this problem.
Thanks!

QUOTE(Don67 @ Jun 20 2008, 06:15 AM) I had a similar creaking noise inside the rear pillar, anytime the body would twist over uneven terrain or roll around corners. Drove me nuts. Rather than have the dealer rip apart my new vehicle and risk turning one creaking noise into several, however, I just sprayed some lubricant into the body panel and within a couple of weeks (presumably after the lube had soaked in) the noise disappeared. Good luck. http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?sh...d+weather+creakThis sounds exactly like mine... driver side toward the rear of the car somewhere. Maybe I'll give this a try, what kind of lubricant did you use? Was it silicone spray or something of that nature?

Was it silicone spray or something of that nature? My secret recipe was to spray a little bit of everything I had in the garage... first it was a semi-thick rustproofing spray, washed down with a fair bit of WD-40. Anything safe for rubber and wiring should do it, but I would avoid silicone spray. Body shops hate the stuff, because if you ever need paint work it causes adhesion problems. Good luck!
