Hi guys,

Sorry but I'm new in 4x4 Tech , what is the relation between ABS ( Anti lock breaking System),TCS (Traction Control System) ,ESC(Electronic stability Control),

If a car is having ABS & TCS does this conclude that ESC is available ?

Hi.
The ESC is a totally seperate safety feature to ABS and TCS. The ESC was fitted to my last car - a 2005 fiat croma. This worked by independently braking each wheel and/or cutting engine power to assist in stability control by measuring the amount of 'yawing' during hard cornering etc. There were times when you would hit a corner to hard and you would feel the car 'stiffen' up and feel like it was on rail tracks.

I am suprised that the Tucson does not have it as it is fitted on the top model Kia Sportage (used to be across the entire Sportage range but they removed it!!!)

cheers.

It depends on the distribuitor of each market (country).
In Spain, for instance, the Tucsons had ABS+TCS, but didnīt have ESC up to last month...

ESC works as described above. TCS (traction control system) works to limit wheelspin in the drivewheels upon acceleration on slippery surfaces. And I think we all know what ABS does.

The wife's '07 Tucson Limited has all three features. The ESC light will flash in a quick accident avoidance maneuver and also when a front wheel tries to spin. And we both are thankful for ABS and Electronic Brake Assist when the arrogant @#$%^&* in the BMW nearly hit her a few months ago.
