I have an 04 Santa Fe, I was wondering when it comes to changing your oil intervals is it more important to pay attention to the number of km's or the number of months.
As they say change it every 5000 km's or every 3 months.
In three months I never get close to 5000 km's, so far now for the 3 months I did 2500 km's.

Dear j,

I don't have the Canadian owner's manual to refer to, so I will have to make some assumptions. Your manual likely says in the maintenance schedule that the oil change interval is 5,000 km OR 3 months, whichever comes first. So you can follow the manual to abide the conditions of your Hyundai warranty, BUT

if you use a synthetic blend or a synthetic oil, the oil manufacturer has there own warranty for damage resulting from use of their product when properly filled and maintained in your engine. The performance of the new syn blend oils is quite good, and most of these say 5 months/5,000 miles.

I would much rather you use a syn blend and go 5 months between oil changes, than changing dino oil every 3 months.

I'm in Canada and it every 6000km or 3 month using semi synthetic from the dealer. So yes you have to change it even if you haven't the KM or month

Down in the States here...using Texaco Havoline 10W30 full synthetic and a Hyundai OEM filter every 5,000 miles or 5 months. I do about 1,500 a month so it turns out being about every 3 and a half but you never know... :innocent:
