I own a 2006 Sante Fe (Early 2G), I am concerned about the wear on the outside eadge of the drivers seat, the leather seems to be getting thin and more pliable. I am concerned it will split. Has anyone experienced this and/or any advice. I have emailed Hyundai UK CS but so far no repsonse. Vehicle registered April 2006, 42,000 miles on clock.
Thanks

Hi Riv
Just take it into your dealer for a 2nd opinion- Leather is very durable and doesn't just split- you can put some good leather cream into the seat to make it pliable and this should help alot- The dealer can check under the leather to make sure it has no direct contact from say a metal bar so as to make sure there is no splitting.
Alternatively you could place a bit of foam under the seating between the seat and the leather and this should help matters too.

Cheers
Itza

I also have a 2006 Santa Fe and I have what sounds like exactly the same problem - the surface of the leather on the outside edge of the driver's seat has lost its surface and seems to be thinner than the rest - as though it has been scuffed, which it has not. I am going into my local Hyundai dealer on Thursday (snow permitting!) and I'll let you know his comments.

Some of the other quality seats in the leather will gives some problem like thinning... I too suffered from this problems regarding the seats.... I got a complete idea about the seats only after the suggestion of my friend he suggested an site named Anything upholstery.com... It is so useful and helpful...

The saga of my leather seat wear has taken an age to solve. Hyundai UK agreed that the wear was a fault and agreed for their local dealer to replace the leather seat base. This they did but as it was the first they had done it did not fit properly and took on the appearance of "ruched" leather, not stretched leather the same as the passenger seat. So after further discussion (and a visit to a leather car seat specialist) they agreed for the specialist to replace it again! But then they were out of stock of the leather seat and only last week did I pick it up. I am now waiting for the seat specialist to fit the new one! And to think I posted the first comment back in February this year! Oh well at least I should have a new leather seat in a couple of weeks.

It's a shame that AnythingUpholstery saw fit to use this forum as a blatant advertisement for his company!!
