My car is a 2001 Hyundai Accent and less than a year ago my engine dies around 100,000 miles. So my mechanc found a used engine with 50k miles. I payed a grand and less than a year later that engine died at 70,000 miles. I made sure i got the oil changed at the right time and I really took care of it. I really don't understand what could cause the engine to die on me. Considering it was running fine before it died. My mechanic called me up and told me that he found another engine with only 5,000 miles for $650. It will be another 400 for labor. I don't think this is too bad of a deal. The only thing is that the engine is a 2003 but he said it would work alright in my car. I just don't want to end up in the same position for a 3rd time. The rest of the car is in excellent shape. Any suggestions or opinions would be great!

hyundai's seem to just have luck of the draw with engines, you're probably better off selling it and buying an old toyota/honda/nissan for the 1000 you will put in the engine with.

What failed? Was it the same thing both times?
