Was under the truck the other day and noticed that the rack was leaking from the back side at a point where I can't see it. Called the service dept and they gave me an appointment two weeks from now to just look at it as they indicated they were busy , can just imagine if they have to order parts when they will get to it. Has anybody else had a problem with a leaking rack. Truck only has 24K on it, and what type of power steering fluid does it use. Manual says something about Hyndai power steering fluid.
Thanks

Dear 05,

Yes, the Hyundai manual would say to use Hyundai power steering fluid. You can't go wrong following your owner's manual recommended fluids.

I have not had a problem with a leak from the rack. Did you strike anything in the roadway?

Byron

Nothing hit, it appears to be coming from the yoke plug or higher up. As this is to the firewall it is hard to see, and you would have to drop it down to see better.
I hope that they replace the rack and not take it apart as this could cause problems down the road if not done correctly.
Hyundai service says PSF 3 but there is now a TSB out that says on a new fill to use PSF 4 but do not mix them.

Just got back from the dealer and am slightly steamed. All they did was clean it off and state that they could not find the leak. When I inquired if they undid the rack to check the back of it they informed me no it wasn't needed and they would look at it at the next service check. I then told the kid behind the desk that I had already cleaned it off and drove it for a couple of days and when I checked it again there was fluid so there is a problem. I then told him to order a new rack and I would be back the next week.
Guy next to me is a mechanic at KIA and has said that I could bring it to them and they can service it but not do warrenty work. Anybody know if Hyundai will OK a repair from a KIA dealer??
