Hi all,

I have the air bag light on (constantly) in my '03 Accent.

My local mechanic said it was a problem with the seat belt, and I took it to the dealer to check on this and told me they found code for D/S seat belt buckle open/short (I imagine is error 1511 and/or 1512 as per the hmaservice website).

My question is:

Has anyone repaired this on his/her own?

Any online vendor where I can get the buckle from?

My air bag light is constantly on now. I also have an '03 Accent.

My 07 accent's airbag light kept coming on. Finally they traced it to my seat belt buckle and replaced it and it has been fine since then.

I got my buckle from:

www.parts.com The driver's side one has part number 8883025600SX (Under restraint systems > Front seat belts > Buckle end)

I paid $37.11 + shipping. The dealer wanted to charge me $140 for the part + $400 labor . . . ridiculous.

You will need two persons to get the job done. You can check the instructions on how to remove the set in the hmaservice website.


After that, I rented an scanner in Autozone and the error was gone, however, the light was still there, but could not clear with the generic scanner. I went to my mechanic and he cleared it for me.

If it is definitely the buckle and you replace it, a good scanner should clear the error fast.
