Hi,

I have just come to change my spark plugs, lifted off the engine cover and I am looking at two of the four plugs that appear to be duel ignition? It’s a black plastic box, which has 12v HMC wrote on it, two bolts secure these.

Is there any consequence for removing these two bolts and lifting off the plastic box e.g. like having to put in an engine code or something like that to get it to start again.

The plugs that I have bought are Bosch super 4.

I haven’t seen anything like this before, I am just a little wary of doing something that might result in a trip to the garage £ £.

Thanks
Alec.

don't worry, those plastic boxes as you call them are power packs that on modern engines do away with the now old fashion coil. just remove the screws and pull the power pack off the spark plug, after you have changed the plugs just screw it back on, job done.
