Anyone with an 09 Sonata interested in trading me for my 08 Sonata Tail lights ?! I like the all red look better. Mine are from an 08 sonata limited and in minty condition.

Let me know if anyone is interested. :57:

If I had an 09 the first thing I would do is get rid of the all red lights and throw on the red/clears!

lol That's just me though

of course it could...

but at the end of the day, are they actually compatible? and what '09 owner will blow their warranty right after they get the car by removing the factory tail lights?

The tail light lens warranty ? Either the lenses let light through or they don't, right ?

Seriously though, as long as the bulb holders match and fit correctly and the mounting holes match up I don't think any warranty would be voided. No different than buying aftermarket ones.

yup, that one.. heh..

but they can void a warranty for almost anything... but to your point, IF they mount the same and IF the holes line up... those are just "if's".. which goes back to my first question.. im curious if they are an exact match...

I'm about 99.9% sure they're the same. The shape and size are the same, and it makes absolutely no financial sense to change mounting locations when the size and shape don't change.

:offtopic: BTW, no one ever answered before when I asked, but since we have more 09 owners now, I'll ask again. What happened to the keyhole on the trunk? If your car battery dies, how are you supposed to get into the trunk (besides through the back seat)? Have they just hidden the keyhole, or has it played Houdini and disappeared like I suspect?

If we don't get the Genesis I'm soooo close to adding more stuff to Gracie. First and foremost will be a complete LED tail light assembly, then probably some springs and slightly fatter tires. And then a 6-71 Weiand roots blower. Maybe I'll mount that to the top of the trunk.

While it is visible in that photo/rendering, it was physically absent on the 10 GLS I4 units I placed my hands on at the dealership a while back.

Okay, it's time for someone who actually drives an 09 to go take a picture of your baby's butt. I'm heading back to the dealership in just a few minutes to prove my case.

Okay, here's my proof. Sorry for the crappy shots through the fence, but my dealer has all their 09's locked up in the bullpen. They've still got minor hail damage, but all are being repaired.

Anyway, here's proof that (at least on the earliest ones) the 09's DO NOT have a key cylinder on the trunk.

Did they do away with the inside trunk release on the drivers door too? Next thing you know we won't have a keyed entry on the drivers door. When will the bean counters give up? :w00t: See a few GM's without a key access to the trunk. The FUTURE is now.

On Topic...have an 06 and don't need your tail lights. :whistling:

No more :offtopic: for me without a disclaimer. :rant2: (this guy works!) :57:

I kinda like the all red. I think it would really depend on the car color, on black they look good... on white, maybe not so much.

So would anyone like to trade me? Feel free to PM me. I would like to have a set of sexy all red tail lights for my 08 white limited.

Thanks. :)
