i visited Kingscross Hyundai dealership in Scarborough on May 24,2008. I paid $1000 disposit for a new Accent sport hatchback. However the sale told me to wait around 1 week and I would get my car. I've been waiting since and the car is still not arrived.
Does anyone know what exactly happen? Do we have a shortage of Accent?

Dear Klee,

Actually, Accents are selling like hotcakes in the US right now. The car gets EPA mileage of 27 city/32 highway. Petrol is USD $4 per gallon or more. These may be in short supply in Canada for the same reason.

Try Ontario Hyundai in Whitby. They have a fairly large number in stock. I went in on Monday to look at them and had the one I wanted the next day!

Has your salesperson provided an honest responce?
I got the car I wanted with $500 down and waitied a month for the next shipment to come from Korea. When I say a month the salesperson knew the expected delivery date and it actually arrived one day early. But before I decided to wait he had already tried to acquire from dealer trade as well as remind me of the colours presently on his lot.
With the higher price of fuel and the discount being offered I suspect these cars are selling quickly. Drop in and ask your salesperson for an update.
BTW...what colour are you wanting?

I waited about 5 weeks to get my 2008 Sport in December. However, the dealer knew within a few days when it would show up.

The process to order a car actually ends in Vancouver - the cars come off the boat from Korea and are distributed amongst the dealers from there. It is possible to order one direct from Korea but normally the dealer can get what s/he wants once the cars have landed in Canada.

Ask you salesman when your car is going to be on the lot. He should have access to a shipping manifest that says when the car is scheduled to arrive. Mine did.

Since May? I say get your deposit back and go to another dealer. The sport is not in that high demand that you shouldn't have one by now. The only one I know they have trouble getting is the base model hatch they had advertised for $9995
