Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

I have recently inhereted a 1997 MVi 3 door coupé Accent, 1495cc and had my new CD player fitted by a local trusted mechanic, who said it was very tough but it was sorted eventually - Hyundai themselves were less than helpful.

To cut a long story short, the old stereo when in radio mode used to raise the electric antenna next to the bonnet/hood, but on my new system (Sony CDXTGT410) when I select tuner or any mode for that matter the antenna won't rise. The current FM reception is quite good without it but is far better when it is raised.

My question really is that is it possible to wire in the antenna system into the new system, if so how? (because I don't think my mechanic knew how), or would it be possible to make it manual so that I could at least raise it by hand a little, without damaging any of the bodywork?

Any and all responses would be greatly appreciated - other than this minor issue it's a great car! :)

there should be a wire on the new sony unit you had fitted that connects to the exsisting ariel, it sounds as though it's not been connected
