I am wondering what would be the pros/cons of upgrading the oil to synthetic? My VC has 2600 on it at the moment, the dealer book states change every 7500 miles. I was thinking that since i drive a little harder than normal that I would change every 5000 miles. Then I thought about synthetic oil then I could go somewhere in the ballpark of 10,000 to 15,000 miles. Any thoughts?

I got about 27000KM on mine, I do oil/filter cha ngeevery 5000KM with the regular maintanace in the dealer workshop.

I change engine oil every 5000 miles. I use mobil1 synthetic. It all depends on your driving habits. I would recommend changing your oil every 5000 or 7500 miles since you are a little hard on your gas pedal. I personally don't like to change engine oil every 10,000 miles or more, although synthetic is used. You can check for yourself how dark your engine oil becomes after 7500 miles.

engines and oil are just engines and oil. doesn't have to be hyundai specific.

Mercedes has a sensor that tells YOU when to change the oil, it could be every 2000 or at 20000. It lasts as long as it can.

However, changing oil every 5000, unless you are a severe service user, is too often for most modern cars. even my Rio only get's every 10,000 (with synth)

I change every 3500 miles/ 5000kms, oil is your cheapest component, at 3500 the oil is discolored and smells used so I dump it. The cost of repairs or arguing warranty is not worth trying to get an extra couple of thousand miles out of a $40. oil change!!! When you get 10year/100,000. mile warranty you know the stuff is good, give it every chance to take you to double that. You already saved $10,000 buying a Veracruz so whats an extra $100. every two years? :thumbsup:
