at speeds above 50 mph, front end vibrates under load. once a cruising speed is obtained car is smooth, but any accelleration produces a pronounced vibration. any thoughts?

I had the same issue since I bought the car new. Since it only happened around that speed, I didn't worry about it. I replaced the tires a few months ago and they checked the alignment. They said the Toe In was off by a little. I had them go ahead and fix that and the problem went away. It was not off by much which made me wonder if just the new tires made the difference.

I should add that my vibration was in the steering only. I can't recall if it made a difference if I was accelerating or under a load. Just a slight vibration at close to 50 mph that would go away when I would go faster.

i have the same problem, i hear this vibration when the car is around the 40-50 mph mark, there is no vibration as speeds lower than 40, and it goes away when i speed up and approach 60. so i don't get this vibration when i am on the freeway. BUT when i am 'turning' as in the lanes 'curve' while on the freeway, the vibrating sound resumes, and goes away again when the lane 'straightens'

i don't know if this at all could be related to the timing belt?

my hyundai elantra 2002 has 93000 miles on it, i am gonna get a timing belt change pretty soon.

do you guys have any suggestions?

my issue ended up being cv joints. two new axles took care of about 90% of the problem. new tires took care of the rest.

Unfortunately, even when there is no mechanical malfunction our cars are notorious for this problem. The best solution if you have vibration issues is to have the wheels road force balanced.
