ive got a '99 excel (australia) and am slowly upgrading the sound system
ive got a Pioneer DEH2950MP Headunit
Alpine Type R 6.9" speakers in my rear parcel shelf
Apline Type S 4" speakers in my front doors

now i know its all was underpowered and thats why im looking to get an amp(s) and sub.
what would you recomendations be for maximum sound for minimum cost
ive been quoted around $650 for a:
Alpine Type R 12" sub
a Pioneer 750W 4 channel amp and pioneer 450W 2 channel amp i think.

just wondering if its at all neccessary.

Pioneer I love for inside speakers and head units and mids and high amps not for subs... Now inside what a amp does is not just make it louder but clearer pioneer will do this. For subs unless it there comp amps I dont recommened using them you can get a cheap 2000 watt amp for like 300 usd but your distortion on the non qulity amp may damage you subs faster so my rec is get a good amp. My personal choice is mmats but there pricey but worth it, but not sure what you guys have over there if you can shoot me some names in your price range I will deff help you out. Now to alpine there subs are good but they dont really hit hard or long they heat up quick thus bass hits not as hard. My friend did all alpine in his jdm civic head unit amps inside speakers and subs type r v12 amps etc. Now for clearity there awesome but if you want people to hear you they can but he lended up changing to kicker set up. Hope i was help full

Hi I own a audio shop in largo fl i would recomend the powerbass 4ch amp its about 400w rms and 800w max here is the link for that amp at the lowest price http://audiowarehouseexpress.com/web/mdl/A...00.4/detail.asp

and for a amp for your sub the best sound and powerand price is the clarion 850w 1ch

http://audiowarehouseexpress.com/web/mdl/DPX1851/detail.asp

for sub either pioneer or kicker

http://audiowarehouseexpress.com/web/mdl/TSW307D4/detail.asp

if you go with kicker use 2 of the comp 12 they will sound really good even better than the cvR series.

http://audiowarehouseexpress.com/web/mdl/07C128/detail.asp

dont forget to use a good 4g amp kit.

hope this helps.

Hola, if you are looking for sound quality the Hifonics ZXI8008 5ch amp will power all your sound machine. It has plenty power. You may want to add a good PARAMETRIC EQ to tailor the sound to your taste. My suggestion would be Clif desings CDQ4, CDQ6 or any other good quality not cheap eq. Hasta la vista

Specs
55 x 4 + 200 x 1 at 4 ohms
110 x 4 + 300 x 1 at 2 ohms

First thing is First

You want to find an Amplifier to suit The power rating of the speakers you are driving, Close as possible to avoid over driving the speaker!, creating wear and tear, distorted sound (.. shitty noise! )

You also want the correct wiring size and fuses etc to compliment the amplifiers.

If you are also driving a High Powered sub, You may want to look into a Power Capiciter probably around 1 FARAD for each sub. No point having the bass if your lights wont stay on!

For the 'normal listening' speakers, You want an amplifier with a very low Total Harmonic Distortion rate,, particiculary under 0.05% for the clearest sound!
Keep that amp on High Pass to make the job eassier for the speakers.

For the Subwoofer, It is ussualy best to find a Amp that has a rms power output under that of the sub, to make it last for the longest amount of time!. THD of subwoofer amps isnt very crucial so they can be around 0.1%.

Researching Box types will defianetely Help.. If you want More sound pressure level and less clarity, Use a ported box so you can hear both ways of the cone movement (keep in mind it is easier to overdrive a speaker this way) If you prefer More clarity and more punch, Use a sealed box to suit the recomended cubic litres of the sub, alot safer with the speaker but less louder...

Hope This Advice Helped,

If it were me, I would use Blaupunkt and Earthqauke gear!

Dave
