Dude, one huge thing I have done is with work on the exhaust. I have 120,000 on my pimp sonata and realized I had to change the flex pipe because there was a leak and for the **** of it decided to bend my own pipes and threw a custom catback (eliminating the resonator) all the way to the back with a cheap burnt tip exhaust off of ebay. Sounds nasty and feels like I gained 20 hp. Just a thought, took me only an hour and a half for the whole setup installed.

Dear koskane,

Some easy motor swaps that have been done on the Sonata are for the 2.5 liter Delta and the 2.7 liter Delta. The old 3 liter will fit, but not worth the effort. These are factoy engine options, so everything will fit.

For performance mods, you did not define your goal. what are you trying to accomplish? What is your budget? How fast do you want to go?
How are you going to allocate your budget between engine mods, interior , exterior, brakes, tires & wheels, and exhaust(i.e. engine 65%, interior 15%, exterior 10%, wheels/tire/brakes/suspension 10%)?

Are you willing to buy premium gasoline? (Lately, this is running $4.35 per gallon!!)

All of the answers will help us to help you.

Byron

well im probably looking for something simple like bolt ons headers, exhaust, intake, turbo just basic things for now almost all of the money will be spent on the engine mods, and probably some rims and thats it i just want to add some more power to the motor

"04 Sonata" and "Performance" are two words that just don't show up in the same sentence. For a reason. Before you start spending money and time trying to make one of these cars into something fast and/or interesting, sell it and get something more suitable to start with.

SHARKRACING SELLS PERFORMANCE PARTS FOR HYUNDAI AND KIA - I SUGGEST LEAVING THE CAR ALONE - IT WASNT MADE FOR PERFORMANCE OR SPIRITED DRIVING , MY MOTHER HAD A 2003 V6 SONATA WHICH HAD A FAIR AMOUNT OF BALLS - PUT FOR SALE SIGNS UP AND GET YOURSELF A V6 IF YOU WANT MORE PEP.
