I ordered a black comfort i10 in mid May and couldn't get one before Aug/Sept, even though I phoned up and down the country at all (not actually all, but alot) Hyundai dealers. My local dealer who I havent ordered through said that the price was increasing by £250? Yet none of the other dealers made any reference to future price increases. Has anyone heard anything?

Also any feedback on high use examples would be good (undersanding that they've only been OTR for a couple of months), as I intend to be covering 80+ miles a day in mine and expect the car to have a hard life from day one.

I have had mine for a week now. I do 70 miles a day half on A roads and half on motorway.

I have no trouble keeping up with traffic and even being known to over take a car on the A road. This is keeping to a max 4000 rpm for the first 500 miles. I have been getting 50mpg.

I was concerned how it would cope with the journey but my worries where unfounded.

I've not heard anything about a price increase but a Google news search does bring up a few stories that Hyundai will be replacing the engine in the i10 around August time with an all new 1.2l. Maybe this is linked to the price hike? Or maybe it is down to rising fuel costs around the world.

See here:

However all these news stories have been from India so not sure if this affects the UK.

The prices have gone up by £250. It's on the Hyundai website.

Yep, agree. We changed our order today for a 1.2 and the new price included the £250 increase.

I'm tempted to upgrade our comfort model (due early Sept) to the 1.2 for £200 increase. The extra performance, coupled with no increase to emissions, may make it the better buy.

Sounds like you are in the same boat as us. When did you order? We ordered before the £250 price increase, so if you change now you'll pay the £250 plus the £200 for the 1.2, hence £7545 OTR. Bit of a devil, but when we are paying £7k for car I'd rather pay a few hundred more than to regret it later

Ohh. Didn't realise that the price had increased by £250 as standard (with no extra kit) plus £200 for the 1.2 on the comfort spec model.

We ordered ours in early May, at the original price (£7,095 - comfort) and now I'm not so sure whether to upgrade or not. Expected delivery is early Sept and I may hold with the original contract as £450 is significant increase on % terms!!!

I'm phoning the dealers later today to confirm exactly what the 'score' is (i.e. is there any extra kit for the £250 price increase!).

As far as I know there is no extras on the Comfort, it's just a price increase (no doubt global fuel price rises would be cited as the reason). It would be good to read a real-life review of the 1.2 but the blurb sounds good.

At the end of the day we're spending a lot of money and our budget can stretch that bit further so we fell why not go for it. I wonder how much we would get back at resale? But that is years away!

......you won't get £450 more back at resale, that's for sure!

We're still undecided, although I'm tempted to stick with the 1.1 - we discussed the reason for buying one, and engine size/performance wasn't one - cost & warranty was! Just wish you could have upgraded to the 1.2 at £200; not the full £450!

.............. I'll let you know what our decision is.

I decided to stick with the 1.1. £450 was just too much of a hike, plus there would be an extra wait, and it's already taking more than 4 months.

I've had other cars in the past with less power and more weight, so I think it should be fine. Besides, I've got two wheels which go (very) fast when I feel the urge!

I have got the 1.1 and am more than happy with it. You can always do with more power no matter what size engine you have. I keep up with all types of traffic with no problem.

Hope this helps.
