Hi everyone I have a problem that i was hoping you guys or girls could help me with. I have a 2001 Santa Fe and both of my tailights are out. I checked the fuse and it was blown. I replaced the fuse and as soon as i depressed the brake pedal the fuse blew again. The bulbs are fine so i replace the switch under the pedal and again the fuse blew immediately. Please help i need brake lights.

Dear rauntu,

I know stating the obvious...you have something drawing a high current in your circuit.

Is there a possibility that you have a wire worn through and it is touching a bare metal ground?
Have you done any wiring work recently?
Have you attached a trailer electrical wire coupler to your tailight wiring?
Have you had damage to your rear tailights with a fender bender?

You indicate that only depressing the brake pedal causes the fuse to blow? will the fuse blow from turning on your running lights? Will the fuse blow from your 4-way flashers? Will your fuse blow from a left or right turn signal?

As your brake light bulbs age, they will develop some corrosion on the bottom that will raise the resistance (ohms) in the circuit but still allow the bulb to light. Can you replace each of your tail light bulbs just because it is cheap and easy to eliminate that as a cause?
