i have a 2001 auto sonata gls
recently,the shifter is acting weird-in order to go oin reverse,i have to take it back to the neutral N,in order to go into drive,I have to put it into 3,etc.
Any reason for this?Thanks

Dear its,

Inside the central console next to the transmission shifter on the left driver side in the console is a neutral position sensor. Sounds like your sensor came loose, and is reading slightly off (3rd instead of Drive, Neutral instead of Reverse).

Verify that the sensor is not just loose...like the screws have backed out or missing.

If the sensor is properly mounted, it is givng a strange reading. Have it checked, replace if needed.
