I normally use Mozilla Firefox (latest edition) to do my browsing. I tried creating an account with hmaservice.com and cannot. I then installed Internet Explorer 6.0 and got a little further along, but after checking the "accept" button on the agreement page when I go back to the previous page the browser goes into an hourglass "processing" mode and never finishes. In fact it doesn't even let me click on the create account bar.

I tried downloading IE 7.0, but it says my system is not compatible with IE7.
I am running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2. My computer has about 1.5GB of RAM and I use ZoneAlarm firewall software with AVG anti-virus software both of which are the latest versions.

Any ideas?

this question has come up many times before, try turning down your browser security settings, if they are set too high they seem to clash with hyundai's web site....and before you ask why, don't because nobody knows

Montego;

OK, thanks. I was not aware this had been discussed before.

:liebe011:

I was successful in getting an account set up following helpful suggestions from fellow members and using a little extra thought while trying the various click buttons on the website.

There truly is a wealth of information on there. One thing that I did discover is that what they call a "schematic" regarding electrical system items is really a very high-level block diagram type illustration and very little real detail is available. For instance, when it comes to the radio equipment, they show only the pin-outs for the 24-contact connector and identify the wire functions, but no internal diagrams of the radio head unit or sub-amplifier are shown.

Happy motoring!

I have been building web sites since I helped test the original WWW. With a state of the art, $5,000, quad core machine running a unix based OS, I cannot even access the page that gives the site requirements, nor the contact page, nor the TOS agreement page.

There is no excuse for those pages to be that technical. In fact, low tech entry points are MANDITORY. Especially for such complex sites. You have to at least get people in the door and explain what they need to do to access the rest of the site. I stress this to both clients and employees: Web sites today are the front door of your business. No company can afford to turn away customers with a broken front door. They sell cars...they should know this.

BTW...hi...new here :) Just got the wife a nice little GLS to commute with and checking out web resources. Was disappointed to see one of best resources in such a sad state.

They do that because the internals of those units are not servicable by Hyundai or its technicians. If one of those units goes bad, it is replaced as a whole. Hyundai does not manufacture these items, they are built for Hyundai by other companies. It would not be cost effective to try to train the techs to repair these items.

I have tried to log on to the site for over a week. I even had to get another password and change my email and I still can't get on. So I used my new computer at work and I still can't get on. Not sure why as I always got on before.

It is a pain in the butt.

True, and that is also the case for most all car manufacturers these days, however, someone has to be able to repair them and electronic technicians should be able to obtain the internal schematics and parts lists for the radio equipment. Howard W Sams used to provide this service and auto radio technicians around the country used them as a source for schematics and parts lists. Most of the car radio OEM people provided their own schematics and parts lists which were usually more correct and helpful than the Sam's publications.

I was an electronic technician and electrical engineer by trade, so that is why I still prefer to see the "details". I have continued to do repairs of my own television and audio equipment over the years.

I do not expect Hyundai to provide the kind of information I was looking for. Most car manufacturers are now too involved in marketing and purchasing what they want for the new cars rather than designing specific items like radios. When you look at the complexity of the computer controls over so many functions in a car these days it is easy to see why they defer to outside designers for audio equipment.

The average owner now has many options in after-market radio/CD/DVD/GPS equipment that can be installed in almost every brand of car that exists.

Happy motoring!

Joe
