Sounds like your fuel pump may be going out.

Hey Mike!
Since the starter turns, you have eliminated bad battery, bad cables, bad ground connection and bad starter as the cause.
With any no start condition, you have to diagnose whether the cause is no-spark or no-fuel.
Get a can of spray starting ether, or a good substitute is spray carbureator cleaner.
Remove the inlet pipe from the front of the throttle body. This requires loosening a screw clamp.
Have your loyal assistant crank the car. while cranking, spray the ether(or car cleaner) in the mouth of the throttle body. If the car sputters, fires, and even runs, problem is no fuel. If the car does NOT sputter, fire or run, the problem is no spark.
For no fuel, you trace back to the fuel pump. For no spark, it could be a failed crank position sensor, bad plugs, bad ignition wires, etc. But first, determine if you have a no spark or a no fuel condition.

Hello
I have many Accent because of my job ( I have a car rental company ) and this happened to me in two cars. The problem with me was the immobilizer, I don’t know if the cars in US have the same system because I leave in Europe. When this happens the immobilizer light don’t blink and you have to turn off the ignition and open it again until the light turns on. Then the car starts.

I have a 2000 Accent...had a bad maf sensor..changed that...problem was car would not start. Maf sensor has been bad for long time,,so i just changed it anyway. problem i am having is on cold starts i have to push it to start it. After a push start its good all day, until i get into car to go home from work! Once again it needs a push....someone told me starter drawing too much power that the coils not heating up......bs.....i thought starter...but it cranks all day. My thought was crank shaft pos sensor. Is that the sensor on the top right by the valve cover?
cj please reply to ccush047555@aol.com....cannot access this web sight from work,.,,,thanks
ok,,sprayed carb cleaner...started right up. after carrb cleaner ran out...tried to start it....fired up again....sounds like pump or filter. will do both and get back to you.

Hi Mike
I read your post and I think that your problem is also as it looks the immobilizer. The problem when I asked a Hyundai dealer is with the antennas from mobiles phones which mesh up the signal from the key to the immobilizer sensor. My opinion is that this is an easy excuse to avoid the problem. The only solution that I found is to reprogram the immobilizer code to a Hyundai dealer but again after a while the problem comes up again. So far the only solve to the problem is to open and close the ignition switch until the immobilizer light decide to light and then crank the engine.
The second think that I am trying to do with no result until know is to by pass the immobilizer.
