Hi,
I own an '03 Sonata and just reacently got back from a week long drive of about 5300 mile. At the end of the trip and every time after on the highway I hear a thumping or roating noise (like an over sized tire noise) from my rear tires (not sure which one) followed by a slight car vibration. Did not have this before the trip. Any ideas?

Thanks

Dear Jeremy,

Since you described this as a thumping or "roating" noise, you have lost a wheel weight. You can probably spot where the weight fell off...look for the clean spot on the inner and outer rim of both rear tires, it looks like the silhouette of a wheel weight.

Get your tires balanced.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I had not got a chance to really inspec the tires since I got back and when I did so I found they were pretty worn. I belive that is the problem. One of the tires in the back, upon further inspection, has the belt showing on the inside of the tire. So I figure a new set of tires should fix my problem.

Thanks to all.
