I put led tail lights in my accent. They worked until I tried to use my blinker. They just stayed on. Led tail lights didnt work for me, I assume you will have the same issue. You could always change the resistance of the circuit, and that may work.

i got the black euro style ones, and most of the sites i went to said these fit all the of 2001 models L,GL, and GS, check the return policy if they dont fit send them back. the leds were bought from http://www.v-leds.com/ 1157 for brake and turn lights, 1156 for the turn and reverse. you also the led load resistor for the turn signals other wise you get hyper flash.

heres a picture of mine.

The thing that I have had to do in one other vehicle that I own when going to LEDs was install an electronic flasher. As you stated the LEDs have lower resistance and cause the flashers not to flash.

You can get the electronic flasher at all parts stores.
