hi.
just bought a '99 XG off a dodgy albanian in sydney.
drove it back and noticed the lcd of the climate control system wasn't lit. came back on when i turned the headlights off. turning headlights on and off - other dash lights/lcd's would also dim a little when h/lights switched on. later, tcs and abs lights came on for around 3 hours. then off.
one day later, speedo went to 85 kmph independent of the speed i was actually doing. returned to normal after 5 mins. later, 85 kmph at faster speeds, 40 kmph at slower speeds. disappeared again after 5 mins.
no other problems.
mentioned it to my local hyundai service dept. they seemed to think it could be the footbrake switch.
is this the alternator or footbrake switch or something else?
many thanks.

first thing to check is the alternator charge rate, when it's tested make sure that there is a constant steady charge rate, if not it's likely to be causing the problems you are having
