Two questions if I may:
1.) Is gasket sealer required when replacing a 2.4 liter cylinder head?

2.) Is Loc-Tite normally used on the cam drive sprockets (where they bolt to the camshafts)?

1. Gasket sealer is NOT recommended for the cylinder head gasket. The head gasket alone is sufficient. The danger if you use the Permatex Black permanent hardening sealer is that some can drip into the water galley holes, harden, and block them. Also, professional NHRA and NASCAR racers use Permatex Blue in place of many other gaskets on the engine...EXCEPT the head gasket which does not use any sealer.
2. Loc-Tite can be used on the cam sprocket bolts, and Hyundai uses this on those bolts from the factory. You will see the blue residue when you unbolt and remove the sprocket bolts. When properly torqued, the Loc-Tite is not necessary but does not hurt.
