after driving my 2007 sonata for around 10 minutes, there is a very high pitched squealing sound that is intermittent and stops when the brakes are tapped. I was told it may be due to a "brake sensor"??

QUOTE(montego @ May 27 2008, 12:03 PM) how many miles have you dome? this noise could well be the low brake pad warning, there is a small metal tab on the brake pad, when the brake pads become worn the metal tab makes contact with the rotor and makes a scraping sound Yeah, but the OP claims the screeching sound disappears when he applies the brakes... That low brake pad warning screeching is suppose to sound when you do apply the brakes. It's quite obvious the noise is coming from the wheel brakes, though.... Try checking from which one of the wheels it comes from... You may need someone listening to it outside of the car while you drive slowly....

Ever get a resolution to your problem? I've got the exact same thing happening to my '07 Sonata (only ~23K miles).

Have the same high pitch sound on our 2007 Sonata. Differences are it takes 15 minutes of driving for the squeal to start; it's intermittent; it is really loud at high speeds (took it on the freeway at 60+mph or over 110 khm); didn't try the brake trick but the sound eventually goes away at low speeds. Need to know how the other people resolved their problem. Thanks, Bob

Just a thought, as I just purchased my 06 Sonata, I was reading the owner's manual last night. Now, I don't claim this to be accurate since I've driven mine like 50 miles, BUT, (I can't find the exact verbage), the manual states that their brake pads are meant to emit a high pitched squeel when they are worn, and that you should do something about it soon as not doing so would cause damage. So, take that with a grain of salt, but thats what the manual said.
