I just had these installed at the dealer as a part of "We owe".

The fronts fit perfect. The part number is 08460-3K000.

The rears fit, but not like the fronts. The clip that is under the car is pulling out and around the outside edge it is bowed. This is happening on both sides. The part number on the invoice for the rears is 08460-3K500.

My questions are:
Did they use the correct ones on the rear?
If anyone has an 09 with mud guards factory installed, can you check the rear fit and maybe get a part number off yours?

Thanks
Tony

Take it back. Sounds like they still "owe" you.

I have an 06 and one of my clips is pulling out from the bottom.

The guards may have taken a set in shipping and are putting more pressure than usual on the clips.

Bump

I too just bought an 09 GLS (my first Hyundai) and put the mud guards on myself. The front went on easily and fit like a glove.

The rear, now they are another story. I had trouble obtaining clearance for install and took the rear passenger tire off. Things didn't appear right but I tried anyway, the plastic clip (on guard) did not fit the lower fender well correctly and the self tapping screws didn't make the install any better.

I knew things were not right, removed the one guard and took it the set back to the dealer. If the dealer doesn't know this part number will not fit, who does? I gave the box to the salesman and commented the serial number on the guard does not match the one on the box. He said he would check into it. (thanks for all the help)

I would also be interested in the serial number from a guard installed at the factory so I don't needlessly take off the rear tire again and find out the next one provided by the dealer doesn't fit either.

Thanks for listening to my diatribe, can you tell I'm sore?

I went looking for one at my local dealers. They didn't have any for an '09 ......... showed me the one's for '08. The front would go on but there was a problem with the rear ones. The holes on the bumper and the pad do not align correctly ..... so I didn't get them. Waiting until they have the correct part. (Plus they were black and I wanted them to be body color).

I looked at their other '09 Sonata parked on the dealership and none of them had the splash pads installed - not even the limited one's so I'm just curious why it doesn't come fitted from the factory?

I couldn't find a pair on any websites as well.

Am looking for a pair of Splashpads, Window visors, Sunroof wind deflector and front bug-shield. If any one knows where to get these for '09 will they please share the info? (Weathertech.com has them but they have different colors for the visors and the sunroof wind deflector so I don't want those).

Thanks,
MSKHAN

It isn't even the middle of 2008 yet, relax folks.
Accessories will come out when the 2009s are more common... heck, several dealerships don't even have their parts catalogs and maintenance info for the 2009s yet.

Time to get out the drill and some bigger screws or those clips for license plate frames might work.....after you drill of course.

Backyard engineering time.

Our daughter just got her new 2009 Sonata, wanted the mud guards but the car came without them. I Googled and found this forum. She had them installed yesterday and we could tell there was a problem as soon as we looked at them. We have a 2006 Sonata so we could compare the two side by side. It appears there's a slight change to that area of the car so the flaps don't fit the same. For the poster who suggested wait, it's early, the 09's have been out for a bit and it's almost impossible to even find a 2008 Sonata.

There is a gap of almost one inch between the car and the flap, and as you can tell from my screen name, we live in a cold climate. She's concerned that snow and salt will collect in that gap and cause problems. Seems like a logical conclusion to me. We'll bring it to the dealers attention and see what they suggest. I'm hoping they'll get a re-engineered flap that will replace what's available.

The 09's have a different back bumper that extend out farther than the 06-08's, the reason they most likely aren't fitting correctly.

The mudguards are installed at the port. My mom's friend bought an 09 and I went to my service manager at work and she said mudguards are not yet available for an 09.

I got the same problem when I took my Sonata to the dealer a week ago.
They said that they would order a new one for the rear wheel and get back to me.
It seems like that's a common issue on all 2009 Sonata.......

well, it makes sense since the rear bumper covers for the '09 are different than the 06-08's and they just havent come up with the correct fitment for certain items (like mud guards) for it yet. i suspect that in the next couple months, more items that are made for the '09's will become available

The dealer got the new mud guards in today. The new rear part number is 08460-3
K600 (someone posted that part number in another thread). They fit perfect. The parts dept gave them to me no charge and I installed them.

I got my mudguards for 09 sonata and installed them. The fit is good. The instructions were good. Installing the front mud guards is easy. It is easier to remove the rear wheels before installing the rear mud guards.

A drill is useful.

You can find the Hyundai official instruction sheet that came with the parts, attached to this message.

http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com/2009_...ccessories.html

for the 2006-08:

http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com/2006_...dai_Sonata.html

they charge about $52 plus shipping for the full set F&R.. dont know if you can get them all that much cheaper than that...

I'd suggest going to your dealer and trying to strike a deal on both sets.

Too bad the 09's need to be drilled. 06-08 we just removed some screws, put the flaps on and reinserted the screws back in the same holes. Didn't even have to remove the back tires. :amen:

I got the post card from my dealer said that it received my mud guard they owed me.
The installation took about 30 min and now I got full mud guard on my 09 Sonata.

However, it took almost 3months to get the part !
