Ive been to my dealer today to ask when is the first shipment of I30 coming in and he said July. I nearly cried on the spot. :crying: :crying: He also told me France had a back order of 8000 I30. Has anyone heard about this shortage ?

abib,

Seems to be world wide. Here in Australia, unless you get extremely lucky, the wait is at least 3 months, even longer, once you place your order. More being sold here than are imported.

Ah shaddup :P

My dealer told me that Australia's delay (at least for the diesel models) were because the engine plant in Korea couldn't keep up with demand from us and Europe - they didnt anticipate that many diesels being sold over here (that dealership was running at about 55% crdi models, they only thought about 25% would be)

Got mine in 3 days, but mine was in the yard. Was also told that it would be 3 months if they had to order one in.

Just came back from dealer. I was meant to be getting mine next week but the
boat is running late and i won't be seeing it for another week or so. He also said
that most people ordering at the moment are waiting around 3 months, even for the
petrol models.

Got mine on March 3rd after placing an order for a different model 1 month earlier. They couldn't fulfil my original order as not many "comfort" models had been shipped in metallic black, which is what I wanted. Ended up with a far superior "premium" model which I'm very pleased with, even though it cost me two arms and three legs more.

Once again, it seems the demand was underestimated here in jolly Blighty.

Got mine the same day as I placed the order.
But had to wait a week before I could pick it up as it was a Demo model and they needed for an open day that weekend.

I think they (hyundai) have under estimated all markets. The sooner they get the Euro plant operating the better. Hopefully it will ease the demand placed on the Korean plant.

Interesetingly, I've discovered another white SLX diesel i30 near where we live, about 30 minutes drive from me. Interestingly, I've driven that one as well - it was the one we test drove back in Nov.

May be there is more stock to people ratio on the west coast , thats why the wait isnt as long?

Western Australia is one of two ports the i30 are shipped to, so they would
get their cars a little bit quicker.

I saw 2 more today. Both were black SX petrol models.

Must be more than 2 ports. I assume all capatal cities are used as ours was off loaded in Adelaide. Only thing is, it takes longer to get to Adelaide.

Hey, Dazz, what about Tassy, or do they miss out?

Bob

Hi Bob,

Most Cars either come in via the Port in Devonport where I live or the Port for Launceston which is at the mouth of the Tamar River (called Bell Bay)

The stupid part is the only Hyundai dealer in Tas which has four outlets Burnie, Devonport, Launceston and Hobart apparently send them all south to Hobart (3 hours plus drive away) to get the first part of the pre-delivery done...

Go figure!

Cheers,

Dazz

P.S. We seem to be getting our fair share of i30's down here although i'm sure the waiting lists are similar.

Hi Bob

My dealer has told me that they don't ship directly to "Outer Harbour", and that
for SA at least they arrive in WA or the east coast and are trucked across.

Dave,

Strange that. My dealer said our car was on a ship at Pt Adelaide just prior to him getting it. That was a Wed. He indicated it would be unloaded, then go through customs, before going to Hyundai distribution for pre-delivery checking. Dealer collected it the following Monday morning. Doesn't sound like a trip across the Nullabor was involved in that timeline.

Might have to go for a drive and see if there are any i30's sitting in the holding yard
at Outer Harbour. Dealer said it takes about 2 weeks to arrive after the ship has docked.
