Personally, I have quit using some of the Edmunds sites because the people there are not as nice as the ones here. By this I mean, they attack the messenger if they do not like what he says. I do not recall having seen this here. No offense, but as Sgt. Friday said - "Just the facts."
:)
Couldn't agree with you more Bob. :amen:
A suggestion for you if you don't mind. :P
I don't not know whether or not your car falls in those dates required for the TSB which covers the
clunking noise, but if it does, print it and go the dealer and ask him to replace your
original front
shocks with the
latest parts instead of what the TSB calls for which is part number 54611-3L040.
If your car falls within the build dates of TSB
07-50-007 which are December 5,
2005 through February 26, 2007, you will have original parts 54611-3L041.
These are the first or original parts that are no longer now listed by the parts department.
I would do this even if your Azera does not fall within those build date addressed by the TSB.
Now here's the tricky part. Tell your friendly accommodating service writer that you do not
care whether or not you have the clunking noise or whether or not they can hear it.
You want your
front shocks replaced with the
latest parts which are listed for the
current cars beginning with 10/20/07. This part number is 54611-3L
640.
These are the current parts and should be 'new and improved' to correct
all the mistakes the factory has made with those two earlier shock sets.
These are the only changes I can detect while at the parts department.
Prices are about the same, so that should
not be any problem!
Do not take
no for an answer. There is no excuse for anyone to have to put
up with that floppy suspension that both you and I are experiencing.
And while you're at it, tell the people at the agency to straighten out that dumb service rep!
If the dealer won't do that for you, call Hyundai and demand that it be done for you.
I'd like to hear someone there try to tell you that there are no changes over all four model years.
Mine was acting just as you discribe, and I had the TSB done at 5K miles.
Those original 54611-3L041s felt just like they were worn out.
I had no 'cluncking' noise, but the head of the service department said he heard
it, which is what Hyundai evidently requires for that TSB to be performed.
Again,
after an additional 5K miles, the replacement 54611-3L040s are doing that very same thing!Mine porpuses so badly on some roads that it almost makes me seasick!
Worth a shot isn't it? If you don't ask, the answer is always
no isn't it? :whistling:
I have tried to make this as clear as I possibly can,
but . .
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate. Fire away! :amen:
:)
