Hi Guys, New to the board, however have had my Trajet for 2yrs now it is however 8 yrs old.
I have a problem with it and whilst searching the net for answers came across the board.
Seems to be a wealth of knowledge here so I hope you can help me out.
The story so far.(SHORT VERSION)
Parked the car on my drive as normal, came to start it a few hrs later the engine was turning over but would not start.
Got the RAC out who thought it was a fuel problem.(however no engine management light was showing on the dash board?)
Had the car low loaded to Hyundia main dealer where it sat for a couple of days due to technitions off sick.
When they phoned me up to tell me that they had looked at the Trajet they said that the ECU was faulty, their was power coming in but none going out.
Quoted me a £1000 fitted for a new one, but would not guarantee that this would solve the proplem?
Cant aford that.
They agreed for me to have the ECU sent off to an autoelectronic company at my own expence who specialise in testing and repaire of these units.
The company phoned me up and told me that their was NOTHING wrong with the ECU & where dispatching it back to the main dealers.
When I phoned & told this to the main dealers they asked for the phone number of the electronic company because they where at a loss if it wasnt the ECU.
I am waiting for the out come.
Has any one else had this problem or can help with any advice I would be greatfull.
Thanks
ALEC.

what a nightmare, for starters you could have your vehicle taken to a main dealer who have techs who know what they are doing. to be told by your dealer that they don't know whats wrong with your car is unaceptable. but there could be serveral possibilities from the engine immoblizer to various sensors on the engine (has this all been checked out?) in addition to that is there fuel coming up to the injectors?
it's going to be very difficult to help sort this out on the forum as you need to have the car in front of you with a tech. who knows what he's doing with decent diagostic equipment

BTW welcome to the forums :00000732: and keep us updated

Thanks montego, apparently the diagnosis was after a thorough investigation.
I dont know how much the labour charge is yet. I will have to find out tomorrow.
Thanks for your support.

That will be a crank sensor/immobiliser or wiring then if its not the ecu. Can they read the immobiliser or engine ecu with Hi Scan-ask them this question because if they cannot then the immobiliser is the answer. If they have any more problems email me and I will send you my phone number so you can pass it on to them. I am an ex Tech

Read this one : Trajet 2.0 Gsi Petrol Broke Down, 12 hours after buying it. Its lower down in the forum

SORTED. :)

Had a phone call this morning, Trajet ready for pick up.
Apparently a corroded connection, they replaced the wiring, car started.
They knocked off the price of the ECU test & charged me 3 hrs labour, with VAT that came to just short of £200.

Well im happy to get my trajet back, a liitle lighter in the pocket but I was expecting worse.

So far since Ive had my Trajet the things that have gone wrong so are.

Crank Shaft Sensor 2007.
Coil & Leads 2007.
Corroded Conection 2008.

Is this the norm for an 8yr old Trajet. She is in excellent condition & I have no intention of parting company from her.

Any way guys thanks for advice, post soon.
Alec.

Hi Mazen.

I have had my timing belt replaced already.

Timing belt
Balance belt
Alternator belt
Air-con belt

Four belts in total, I took it to a small local garage who said that they could do it.
Hyundia wanted £399.99 compared to £265 from my local garage.
I dont think however that they will do another one, they had a few problems.
I had an advisory note on my MOT saying constant velocity joint gaiters deteriorated & rear break pipe slightly corroded.

Some thing else to save up for.

Thanks for all your comments.
